Mekelle - Danakil Depression (Erta Ale) - The tour departs from MFT (Magma Flow Tours) office at 10 am. - Pickup from airport/hotel/anywhere else in Mekelle; then we will head towards the southern side of the Danakil depression (the region around Erta Ale), en route meeting with locals in Kesrawad (village located amidst an unexpectedly isolated landscape). - HIKING TRIP (duration approximately 30–40 minutes – option to rent a camel for riding exists): We hike to the summit of Mount Erta Ale. - Visiting the Erta Ale volcano’s lava lake takes place overnight. Meals included: lunch, snack, dinner Accommodation provided outside or inside nearby traditional shelters close to the crater edge. --- **Day 2.** Danakil Depression (Erta Ale - Afdera - Lake Asale/Karum - Hamad Ela) - Second trip visiting the Erta Ale volcano happens when watching the sun rise over its craters (optional activity based on interest level among participants). - Hiking journey (approximately 30–40 min.) leads us back where our vehicles are waiting before driving northwards through the Danakil desert toward the Dallol geothermal field. On this roadtrip segment, there may be opportunities to stop by Afdera town to swim in Lake Afrera and enjoy bathing within natural hot spring waters depending upon availability of free time.
